The Challenge
The client’s trading application was hosted on-premises in a legacy infrastructure that operated with a single point of failure. Any server outage directly impacted trading operations, creating high business risk. The environment lacked scalability and struggled to handle peak trading loads efficiently.
Maintenance, monitoring, and patching were largely manual, increasing operational overhead and security exposure. The legacy SFTP server posed security concerns, VPN configurations were complex, and there was no centralized logging or proactive monitoring, making the overall system difficult to manage and secure.
Our Solution
The application was migrated to AWS and redesigned within a highly available, multi-AZ architecture inside an Amazon VPC. Citrix Virtual Apps was deployed in AWS, leveraging Machine Creation Services (MCS) to provision scalable session hosts from a standardized master image, eliminating single point of failure and improving performance.
AWS Systems Manager Patch Manager was implemented to automate patching, while AWS Transfer Family replaced the legacy SFTP server with a secure, managed solution integrated with S3. Monitoring and logging were centralized using CloudWatch and CloudTrail, and secure Site-to-Site VPN connectivity ensured encrypted communication.
Results
The new cloud-based architecture significantly improved availability, scalability, and resilience of the trading platform. The elimination of single point of failure reduced downtime risk, and MCS-enabled provisioning improved performance during peak trading hours.
Automation of patching, secure file transfers, and centralized monitoring enhanced the security posture and reduced manual maintenance efforts. The client achieved a secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud environment that supports business continuity and future growth.
